It feels as if our world is once more safe;
we swept out the dross of last night’s fire.
But to trust that we are now whole is naif;
the embers still burn hot as Hades’ desire.
The hate that near destroyed our land? Still here.
The rancor of white terrorists? Still here.
The venom of supremacists? Still here.
The rank odium of fascists? Still here.
Do not allow the good work being done
to mask the stench of rank, sinful growth.
The battle has been joined, we’ve just begun
to see the depths of evil that we loathe.
The gearing of the fascist state’s engaged,
We must resist, we must remain enraged.
